GARY THOMAS

GARY THOMAS is an American Evangelical minister and writer of Christian Literature. Thomas is a regular teaching pastor at Second Baptist Church Houston, the fourth-largest church in the United States in 2013, with over 21,000 in weekly attendance. Gary is the author of numerous books that together have sold over two million copies, have been translated into more than a dozen languages, and won numerous awards. His writings have established him as a thought-leader in the areas of marriage, parenting, and spiritual formation. His most notable works include Sacred MarriageSacred Pathways, and Authentic Faith.

In 2003, Authentic Faith won the Gold Medallion Award in the “Christian Living” category. Thomas received a bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature from western Washington University in 1984. He was awarded an honorary Doctor of Divinity degree from Western Seminary in Portland, Oregon, in 2006 in recognition his contributions made in the field of spiritual formation. Gary enjoys running in his spare time and has completed 14 marathons, including the Boston Marathon three times. He and his wife Lisa have been married for 38 years and they have three adult children and two grandchildren.
