The Catholic Enlightenment New Outreach Program (CATENOP) is a ‘public Enlightenment” initiative led by BLU Foundation in collaboration with the Friends of St. Anthony targeted towards the undeserved members of the Laity.
CATENOP aims to COMPLEMENT and support the New Evangelization agenda of the Catholic Church, to assist with the general education of the catholic community and the general public. This it does by providing a host of exemplary and iconic Catholic literature teachings (supported by some selected closely related general Christian and secular literature); to the under-informed or under-served members of the public.

CATENOP is designed to bridge the gap within the segments of society in the exposure and understanding of teachings; this gap exists due to cultural and language barriers, literacy barriers, and insufficient channels/media for distribution.

Our Mission
To adapt and broadcast classical teachings often overlooked in indigenous languages.
Our Vision
To complement Catholic education and new evangelization efforts by being a trusted source for the dissemination of teachings from model Catholic/Christian literature.

Why CATENOP?
CATENOP aims to establish a new credible Catholic education channel that will serve many interests and aspects of the Catholic and Christian community by laying a foundation for the broadcast of teachings from renowned Catholic authors, running a robust enlightenment program and setting a trend upon which others can be encouraged to follow.
While the Church works hard towards re-evangelizing the flock through New Evangelization, sacred scripture says, “The harvest is plenty, but the laborers are few”. It has become necessary for the lay faithful to take up practical evangelization roles to curtail the impending damage from these deficiencies.
CATENOP provides a cost-effective, efficient model to reach a large number of people with relatively minimal effort. The initiative will serve to strengthen faith within Catholic communities through its teachings.
This program is also an attempt to close the gaps caused by the following deficiencies within Nigerian Catholic communities that, if left unchecked, could contribute to a massive exodus from the church;

In Nigeria, only a few Catholics put considerable effort into learning the tenets of the faith. Others who make up the majority attend daily and Sunday masses but do not have sufficient knowledge on essential topics, as they do not spend time and resources going beyond the surface to acquire extra knowledge through the study of seasoned literary materials capable of accelerating their religious and spiritual growth. There is very little nourishment from faith-based literature; thus, they tend to remain stagnant in faith.
The average Nigerian Catholic is caught up in the misconception that deep studying and understanding of the scriptures is reserved for the priest, something they’ll never need in their Christian journey; therefore, they tend to ignore materials that improve their doctrinal understanding. Additionally, many Catholics have minimal knowledge of existing classical Catholic literature; therefore, they lose out on the numerous impactful teachings in those resources.
Several people within the Nigerian Catholic community, especially those in rural and semi-urban areas, are not learned enough to easily comprehend age old writings in English language. This is a barrier preventing them from enjoying the benefits of studying and applying the teachings from the literature in their personal lives.
There are considerable gaps in the understanding of Catholic doctrinal teachings. Many people find some teachings abstract in nature and only applicable in time past; this leads to the Church and its teachings being viewed as obsolete, with inconsistencies and very few solutions to current contemplations.
The people have developed a lack of confidence that the church has more to offer: Many Catholics restrict the influence of the church to homily messages at mass. This leads them to prematurely discount the church as having much knowledge or solutions to their problems.
